- 01
Start from the reason to reach out
- Write down the trigger first: a new role, a hiring spree, a public post, a cost the prospect is paying
- Name the persona and department you are writing to
- Note the one pain or outcome you want to raise
- If you have no trigger, use a persona-based or peer-based framework
- 02
Pick the framework that fits the situation
- AIDA: pain-driven outreach with social proof
- Trigger, Implication, Pain, Proof: finance or savings angles, especially with data or a report
- Typical Problems: persona-based outreach to a department
- Champion Play: someone who just joined a new company from one of your customers
- 03
Use the value-led frameworks for cost and ROI
- 'Then why are you paying?': call out an irrational cost the industry accepts, with a simple analogy
- 'Do the maths': show the pain going from X% to Y% and what that saves
- Challenge of Similar Companies: open with what peers in their industry are hit with, and ask when they last tested their process
- Leverage Content: offer a cheat sheet or resource with a soft 'can I send it?' ask
- 04
Fill every variable with something specific
- Subject line references their company, trigger or department, not your product
- Open with the trigger or a personal observation, not who you are
- Use real proof only: a similar company and an outcome you can stand behind
- Keep each line to one idea, short sentences
- 05
End with one low-friction ask
- Ask a yes/no question: 'Worth a look?', 'Want to see how?', 'Can I send it your way?'
- For champion plays, skip the pitch and offer to swap ideas, no expectations
- Add a P.S. with a personal or LinkedIn detail where it fits
- 06
Test frameworks against each other
- Run two frameworks on the same segment and trigger
- Keep the subject line and ask constant while you test the body
- Keep the winner per persona and trigger, then test the next variable
